About Kayla Heuer

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I specialize in supporting teens and young adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, eating struggles, body image issues, identity development, and mind–body challenges.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people—I just wasn’t sure what that would look like. I’ve always found deep meaning in comforting others through hard times and in trying to understand what it means to be human. My years in the service industry showed me how small moments of genuine connection can bring a sense of stability and care—how simply being seen can make a difference. I began to cherish the moments of connection that came with serving coffee—hearing snippets of people’s stories and witnessing their routines unfold in just a few minutes each day. Those brief but meaningful interactions sparked my desire to connect more deeply and support others in a more lasting way. I became deeply passionate about health and wellness and the many layers that shape our overall wellbeing—physical, emotional, relational, spiritual and environmental.

My path to becoming a therapist has also been shaped by my own life journey. Having experienced the healing power of therapy myself, I’ve seen how transformative it can be—and it’s what inspires me to offer that same supportive, grounding space for others.

Professional Background

I completed my Bachelors of Science in Healthy Lifestyle Coaching from Arizona State University and shortly after earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palo Alto University. I am an EMDR trained therapist through EMDRIA.

I have clinical experience across multiple levels of care, including residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for eating disorders, anxiety, and mood disorders supporting acute phases of recovery for teens and adults. I also have worked in multiple outpatient settings helping clients transition toward greater autonomy, self-awareness, and trust in their bodies and identities.

As a therapist, I blend all that I’ve learned through my own experiences—personally and professionally—to support clients as they navigate life’s transitions, rebuild their relationship with themselves and their bodies, and create meaningful, lasting change from the inside out.
